Edward Jenner 1749-1823 was married in this church to Catherine Kingscote 6th March 1788. His work in connection with the introduction of vaccination has made him ever dear to the human race. His marriage brought him much happiness

Edward Jenner, FRS (17 May 1749 – 26 January 1823) was an English physician and scientist from Berkeley, Gloucestershire, who was the pioneer of smallpox vaccine, the world's first vaccine. He is often called "the father of immunology", and his work is said to have "saved more lives than the work of any other human".
