French surrealist photographer (born Lucy Schwob). Lived here from 1937 and created some of the most startingly original photographs of the twentieth century.

Claude Cahun (25 October 1894 – 8 December 1954) was a French artist, photographer and writer. Their work was both political and personal, and often undermined traditional concepts of gender roles. Claude Cahun was possibly transgendered, and since their correct gender pronouns are disputable, it is generally accepted to use gender neutral pronouns such as they, them, and themself.
