Peter James Stanford (born 23 November 1961) is an English writer, editor, journalist and presenter. An alumnus of St Anselm's College, Birkenhead, he was the editor of The Catholic Herald, and a regular contributor to the New Statesman.He has written many books, mainly biographies and books about religion. Since 2007 Stanford has written for The Sunday Times, The Guardian and The Independent on Sunday.Stanford was editor of The Catholic Herald from which he resigned. He, along with Kate Saunders, authored the book Catholics and Sex in 1992. Stanford and Saunders later presented a television series based on the book on Channel 4.
