William Crotch 1775-1847

Musical prodigy and composer was born in this parish. From the age of 3 he played the organ in many East Anglian Churches and concert halls. In 1797 became a professor of music at Oxford and the first principal of the Royal Academy of Music in 1822.

William Crotch (5 July 1775 – 29 December 1847) was an English composer and organist.
